Hi, my name is Kelsey Marie Whittemore. Most people call me Kelsey, but in High School I went by Whit, mostly because one of my friends was also named Kelsey. I really have no preference on which one people call me though. My whole life I grew up in Centennial Colorado, until I moved up to Fort Collins to attend Colorado State University. I am a freshman and currently living in the dorms. I recently just signed a lease for a house to live in with six other girls, which will be interesting for next year. At the end of this semester I will be declaring Criminal Justice as a major.
Currently I do not have a job because my classes seem to take a big chunk of my time. My parents provide for me, but slowly are starting to cut me off so I will need to find a job. However, in my free time I love just hanging out with my friends doing crazy things. I love being outdoors, either in the mountains camping, fishing, snowboarding, sledding, skiing, tubing, hiking, mountain biking, or playing sports like frisbee, soccer, volleyball, baseball and football. Since I live so close to the mountains, every chance my friends and I get we go exploring. At school I am involved in Younglife. This semester I am training to become a Younglife leader, hopefully being a leader for wildlife.
Overall, I am pretty easy going. The one thing that I can not stand and will freak out about are snakes. I can handle almost anything else, but if a snake is around, I am gone. I love mostly just playing sports. I played basketball and soccer for 11 years and played tennis and ran cross country all in high school. I absolutely love history, especially learning about the World Wars. I do not have a tattoo, but I really want one, I am just waiting for the right one because I want mine to have significant meaning to me.
For mission trips, I have never been on one before. I am very excited and thankful to have this privilege to go to Kenya. I am really excited to play and get to know the kids in Kenya, and to teach them the love of our Father. I almost did not apply to come because my family was not very supported in my decision to come, but I knew that this is where God wanted me to be this summer. Recently God has been telling me that I need to make changes in my life and to be patient and I feel like this experience to Kenya will be that change I need in my life.
I am praying for everyone going on this trip for peace because I know preparing for a trip can get a little stressful at times. Can't wait to see and meet all of you!!!
