My name is Emily Douglas and I am from Suwanee, Georgia but currently live in Atlanta, Georgia. I went to the University of Georgia my first two years of college, and then transferred to Georgia State University in Atlanta this past year. UGA didn't have a nursing program, so I transferred here hoping to attend this nursing program. I ended up not getting into the nursing program here, but God had a better plan for me! I got accepted to both Mercer University and Emory University, so now I am trying to decide which nursing program I would like to go to next year (mainly which one is the cheapest choice lol). I can't wait to become a nurse, because one of the main things that I want to do when I grow up is become a missions nurse and travel to third-world countries to help out.
I babysit in my free time to make a little bit of extra money, but other than that my parents support me. In my free time I really like to hang out with friends, talk, and take pictures. My friends and I sometimes go around Atlanta and take pretty pictures, or random pictures of graffiti or something interesting. On Tuesday evenings I go with a team from Grace Midtown Church and surrounding colleges (Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw, etc.) to the Atlanta Union Mission. We call the ministry "My Sister's House", and here we play with the kids here. Basically this is a shleter where mothers and their children come if they are homeless, recovering from addictions, or leaving abusive relationships. It is so amazing how God is moving not only through these kids, but also through our team.
I am open to try any kind of food, and like to talk about just about anything. I really like to laugh, and I like to listen to honestly any kind of music. My parents are divorced and remarried, so in total I have 5 brothers! They don't all live with my mom in Suwanee, but sometimes it can get a little confusing and hectic. I am really excited that one of my real brothers will be attending Georgia Tech in the fall, so it will be awesome to be together.
During my freshman year at UGA, I went to Jamaica on a mission trip over Spring Break with a campus ministry called The Wesley Foundation. It was so amazing, and even in a weeks time the Lord moved in my life so much and re-opened my eyes to His love for me. I am so excited to go on this trip and get to know all of you! I can't wait to see the ways that God has prepared each and every one of us to work together for His good. He is going to do amazing things over there!!! I am a little nervous to be away from my family and friends for so long. My friends and my boyfriend are a huge support system for me, so it will be awesome to completely rely on the Lord. I can't wait to meet you guys!
